Within the rocky landscape of Malibu, the Jim Morrison Cave holds a mythical allure. Known as a retreat for the iconic lead singer of The Doors, this sandstone cave is a canvas for graffiti, adorned with hand-drawn lyrics, symbols, and images that evoke Morrison’s countercultural spirit. This garden captures the mystique and the natural artistry of the cave’s surroundings, drawing on warm, earthy tones and moody shades that echo the cave’s secluded beauty, offering a space for reflection and creative inspiration.
This vibrant garden is a testament to those who wish to make a bold statement. At its heart lies Scrophularia californica (A), known as California Figwort, its vibrant chartreuse foliage and intricate, delicate flowers add a striking burst of color. Alongside, Lotus crassifolius (B) carpets the ground with lush green foliage, adorned by ethereal, pale pink flowers, creating an atmosphere of natural elegance.
Adding to the allure, Asclepias speciosa (C), or Showy Milkweed, presents bold lance-shaped leaves as a canvas for its vibrant pink flower clusters. Against the backdrop of the Los Angeles skyline, Penstemon rattanii var kleei's (F) slender leaves and tubular blue flowers mirror the hues above, while the silvery foliage and deep purple blooms of Salvia mellifera (G) and Salvia leucophylla (H). provide an ethereal, cloud-like contrast. Completing the scene, rows of Alliums, including dichlamydeum (D) and falcifolium €, cascade gracefully, their delicate spherical purple flowers adding a touch of refinement and sophistication along the garden's edges.
