Silhouettes of lifeguard stations stand in stark shadows, and palm trees sway gently in the fading light, creating captivating patterns against the backdrop of the setting sun. As the last rays of daylight fade into twilight, Malibu Beach is bathed in a serene and ethereal beauty, a testament to nature's awe-inspiring artistry.

Did you know there are 24 lifeguard stations and 159 lifeguard towers, and they watch over 72 miles of Southern California coastline and Santa Catalina Island, including 31 miles of public beaches? Thank you, Los Angeles County Fire Department Lifeguard Division.

Crafting this garden was no small feat, but the challenge makes it one of our most cherished creations. Anchored by the vibrant presence of two orange Monkey Flower species (C, D), we've expertly balanced and softened their boldness with a delicate interplay of yellows, peaches, and burnt oranges. Infused with a spirit of fun and whimsy, while also imbuing a sense of warmth and tranquility, the addition of deeper butterscotch, creamsicle, peach, and cantaloupe species brings depth to the palette.

Careful consideration of color juxtaposition has lent harmony and dimension to the landscape, with the varying plant heights further enhancing this effect. Witness the grandeur of the towering Helenlum puberulum H) standing in stark contrast against the graceful foliage of Acmisnon glaber (D) and Diplacus aurantiacus (B). With seasonal blooms, such as Triteleia ioxiodes (E, F) ensuring a spectacle nearly year-round, this garden is a haven for bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies alike, promising a constant flurry of natural activity and beauty.
